The papers, including correspondence from scientific societies in Europe, principally concern the new method of observation used in the magnetic atlas prepared by Churchman. Also included are his biography by Hannah P. Chandlee, color photographs of a reproduction of Joshua Reynolds portrait of John Churchman, and an inventory of the papers by Mary L. Bryan.
